Dr Charles Massy, OAM, leading thinker on food and farming systems : "What we need are self-generating, self-organising grass roots food movements, if we are to save this nation from bad food".
We need more than stickers or certifications, we need to know what we are buying, eating or drinking. After all : "We are what we eat (and drink)"
The above PLU sticker, recognised internationally, was banned in 2024 by the ANZ Govt.s as being dangerous to our ecology.
Yet 2 months later, BigFood applied their own similar stickers to ensure you don't know what you are eating - Organic (Certified) , Conventionally grown or GMO produce.
This curve is an indication of how produce ripens over time.
Industrially grown produce is
- produced from ever decreasing soil qualities (CSIRO), with fertilizers extracting nutrients from the soil.
- it is picked too early, to travel the many food miles to the centralised markets, and then out to the stores.
- Hence low in nutrient density (taste and food value).
- In past 3 years, BRIX and NDI's (nutrient density indices) have been doubled by GMO, by increasing the sugar content (according to food scientists).
- Red apples are now so sweet, it is difficult to taste the differences between varieties.
