.. have been regarded as the best 'objective' measure of nutrient density for past 200 years ago.
More than 80 years ago, Dr. Carey Reams created a BRIX Ratings chart of "poor", "average", "good" or excellent" - see here.
This was done by doing benchmark testing of BRIX readings for 50 produce times across the USA, to cater for varying climatic conditions and soil types.
Consumers insisted that the BRIX meter be called a NutriMeter (Trade Marked) as this is what it did. And as BRIX was a cafe' down the road!

Unlike other hand-held food spectrometers, the spectral profile created by Nx of a produce item, is not sent up into the cloud for 'profile matching' against pre-calibrated BRIX profiles (or spectral fingerprints) to return a BRIX value.
Nx uses internal algorithms to create a Nutrient Density Index or NDI (TM), which can be correlated directly to a equivalent BRIX value. Since 2023, we have believed there is at least a 95% correlation between BRIX and NDI.
Dong widespread benchmarking did 80 years ago, it the best way of establishing reliable correlations across the 450 varieties of produce available in ANZ.
i.e. BRIX meters, NutriMeter X's, tools to extract juices, calibration tools, recording scripts / sheets / mechanisms. Participants to bring 5 produce items to be tested.
Best way to learn new things is ..
.. the "Do and You understand" principle!
.. helping us all eat better food by encouraging 'regen' farmers and growers to grow more nutrient dense, delicious. nutritious produce and food!
